All about Anatomy and Physiology

There are a number of questions as to how, why and where MEDIballs Secret Pelvic Floor Trainer works best. When it comes to understanding the medical device better, one approach is to consider how they impact the entire pelvic region and internal organs.

As mentioned throughout the website, MEDIballs Secret has been developed to effectively strengthen the female pelvic floor muscles. While the focus on the pelvic muscles is frequently narrowed to bladder control and sexual function, the pelvic floor also holds the bladder, uterus and intestines in their correct positions. A weakening of the pelvic floor can compromise the support and internal positioning of some of your vital organs and the pelvic system.

What can cause bladder weakness?

There is a wide range of factors that can contribute to a weakened pelvic floor.
These include:

  • Age
  • Childbirth
  • Pregnancy
  • Menopause
  • Physical Strain
  • Drastic Weight Loss/Gain

So what muscles are we actually talking about, when we refer to ‘the pelvic muscles’? The pubococcygeus muscle or ‘PC muscle’ is one of the muscles that form the pelvic diaphragm. This ‘hammock-like’ muscle stretches from the pubic bone to the coccyx (tail bone) and supports the pelvic organs.

Alongside the PC muscle is the levatorani muscle, which contributes to bladder continence by providing support to pelvic organs and enhancing urethral closure. Overtime, the environmental factors mentioned above can reduce the strength of this muscle and compromise bladder control and optimal sexual function.
